Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Ferryhill

The Olive Grove

Half Moon Ln, Spennymoor DL16 6HQ, UK – 01388 205689

Went for lunch on Saturday and found the place to be very nicely set out, very clean. Also very quiet, which meant not a lot of atmosphere unfortunately. The staff were very good, welcoming and alert to our needs, and the food was excellent. I’ve never seen my brother beaten by any meal but the giant fish and chips defeated him hands down. Definitely be going again, although I will probably be trying the evening to see if it gets busier.

Liked the friendly welcome and atmosphere and the good food, recommend a visit

Bayleaves

8 Parker Terrace, Ferryhill DL17 8JY, UK – 01740 651660

We had a delivery from here. It was amazing! Really yummy food and good delivery time. Definitely recommend eating here. :)

Beautiful food tonight, fast and friendly service, my favourite food place xx

The Poachers

Bridge St, Metal Bridge, Durham DH6 5LQ, UK – 01740 654268

Friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Actually, it was possibly a bit too warm (hot) but that's not the main issue. I ordered the Chicken Leonardo which was meant to be in a "white wine and garlic sauce"... It was essentially macaroni cheese - but even the confusing dish description isn't the biggest problem. It just tasted like it came out of a can or packet. Something just wasn't right about it. - if you ever try Aldi's canned macaroni cheese then you will know what it tastes like. But let's not shame this place. It serves big dishes, the staff are friendly, service is fast and most of the other food is actually nice.

If you like pub food and lots of it you must visit. The food is great and not overpriced but this place is so busy you really should book. I have been loads of times and never been disappointed.
